Creating a landscape, designing a garden. We approach the projects of Erik Dhont and other landscape designers by immersing ourselves in photography and painting. Inventing a garden without references is almost impossible. There is memory, of course, the memory of our own landscapes and gardens, but also that of gardens photographed or painted at a specific moment in time. Using a reference also means copying it, as in painting, as a study. Capturing a shadow, a passage of light, a scent. We seek an emotion.
The Architect:
Erik Dhont is a landscape architect based in Brussels, Geneva, and Milan. Since starting his practice in 1989, he has worked on a wide variety of projects and has established a network of clients across Europe and internationally.
