To develop a garden, we must be as free as a walker, free to choose our perspective. A landscape is never seen from a single viewpoint. It is discovered through a journey, through a series of perceptions: this approach organizes the experience of the garden in time and space. Next comes the careful selection of plants and species to produce precise and credible images of the landscape, linked to the seasons and contexts. Here, from the palace as well as from the street, the garden acts as a boundary. It unfolds in a spiral, a continuous movement, a small plant galaxy sucked into a mirror of water.
The architect:
Erik Dhont is a landscape architect based in Brussels, Geneva, and Milan. Since starting his practice in 1989, he has worked on a wide variety of projects and has established a network of clients across Europe and internationally.
