Ryadh Cultural Center
Contest - 2019
Description:
In collaboration with photographer Julien Lanoo, this project was built around the idea of introducing it into the reality of the Arab city rather than into a fantasized reconstruction. We commissioned the photographer to create a reportage capturing the atmosphere of the city and used the photos to showcase the project, sometimes in its exact location but also sometimes at the end of a street, behind the trees in a park. A strange, sculptural object emerges from the urban banality.
The Architect:
Jean Nouvel founded his own firm in 1970 after working with Claude Parent and being influenced by Paul Virilio. Co-founder of the Syndicat de l'Architecture, he is known for his commitment to architecture that is adapted to the urban context and the history of the location.
